Selected atlas animals assigned to Paleozoic intervals, before dinosaurs appear in the Triassic fossil record. The sequence broadly follows geological time, not evolutionary ancestry. Dimetrodon and Edaphosaurus were synapsids, not dinosaurs; the earlier animals here did not all live together.
