How Extinct Atlas handles visit analytics, optional Adsterra advertising, privacy choices and correspondence.
Who operates this site?
Extinct Atlas is an independent educational archive published under the public editorial byline OliverHart. You can browse without creating an account.
Site delivery and local storage
Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, receives connection information such as IP address and browser information to deliver and protect the site. Your analytics and advertising choices are stored separately in your browser. Advertising choices include the notice version and time and are remembered for up to 180 days.
Cloudflare cookie-free basic statistics
Cloudflare Web Analytics provides aggregate page views, visits, referrers, browser and device categories, approximate regions and page performance to help us improve the site. It does not use analytics cookies, local storage identifiers or browser fingerprinting. It runs separately from the optional Google Analytics and Adsterra choices, including when you reject those services. Our automatic setup excludes visitors from the European Union. Network information is still processed to deliver requests; cookie-free does not mean no data processing.
Google Analytics
Google Analytics 4 loads only after you allow analytics. It may use cookies and online identifiers and process page views, device and browser information, approximate location, performance metrics and archive interactions. We use reports to improve navigation and content. These data should not be described as completely anonymous. Do not put sensitive information in page URLs or search fields.
Change your choice
Google Analytics and Adsterra stay off until you accept optional cookies. Accept all enables both, Reject all disables both, and Customize lets you choose them separately. Use Privacy choices on any page, or Ad & privacy choices below an ad space, to change or withdraw consent. Declining does not prevent reading, search or videos. Withdrawing either optional service reloads the page if its code has loaded, stopping further requests from that document. This does not delete data or third-party cookies already stored; use your browser controls and the provider privacy contacts for those. Analytics consent does not grant advertising consent.
Adsterra advertising and AdSense status
Selected English and Chinese species guides offer one Adsterra Native Banner placement, loaded only after advertising consent and when the ad space is near view. Adsterra (AD MARKET LIMITED / ADMEDIA LLC FZ) and its advertising partners may receive your IP address, browser and device information and page context, and use cookies, web beacons and online identifiers to deliver, measure, protect against fraud and personalize advertising, including based on visits to other sites. These providers may process data outside your country. Their privacy policy explains their processing and privacy contacts. Google AdSense remains under review and its ad-serving script is not enabled. This site choice is not a Google-certified consent platform.
Email and privacy requests
If you email us, we receive your email address and the information you choose to include. We use that correspondence to handle your question, correction, copyright concern or privacy request. Please avoid sending unnecessary sensitive information. Contact us to ask about access or deletion of correspondence.
