Size: length is not the whole comparison
Spinosaurus is commonly reconstructed longer than T. rex, but it had very different proportions. An extended snout, trunk and tail do not automatically produce greater body mass. Compare the same metric on named specimens before treating an illustration or silhouette as a scientific size verdict.
Diet: different tools for different foods
Spinosaurus had elongate jaws and conical teeth consistent with taking slippery prey such as fish. T. rex had a deeper skull and much more robust teeth. These differences support distinct feeding strategies, but they do not prove an exclusive diet or a fixed hunting routine for either animal.
Was Spinosaurus a swimming specialist?
Experiments on its deep tail supported increased propulsion in water. Other studies challenge inferences about specialised pursuit diving, including the interpretation of bone compactness. The useful distinction is between having aquatic capabilities and demonstrating one particular underwater hunting style.
Why a fight cannot be reconstructed from fossils
Spinosaurus lived in North Africa long before the final Cretaceous ecosystems of western North America inhabited by T. rex. They could not have fought each other. A hypothetical winner depends on invented conditions such as terrain, individual size and behaviour; fossil evidence does not provide a match result.
What remains uncertain
Body mass, swimming performance and behaviour depend on reconstruction and modelling. This comparison separates those estimates from direct skeletal observations.

Could DNA from amber bring dinosaurs back?
